Research fellow
Dr. Karen Myers is an On-line Nurse Educator who graduated in 2011 from Duquesne University with her DNP, with a focus on Nursing Education. Her MSN in Nursing Education was also from Duquesne University in 2008. She empowers nurses and other health care professionals to reach their academic goals. After spending over nearly two decades in various traditional nursing roles, Karen moved into the exciting world of on-line education.
She works at several universities as an adjunct faculty member. At 七色视频, she teaches Leadership and Management for RN to BSN and MSN students.聽
She was awarded the 2020 Phoenix500 award member and 2020 Faculty of the Year award. She was awarded the 2021 Phoenix500 award and 2022 Phoenix500 Award. She was nominated for Faculty of the Year in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Current research undertaking is conducting a literature review on faculty perceptions on rigor for online students for Phoenix with two other colleagues. The PRISMA Model is being utilized for the literature review. The team is currently writing the findings of the literature review.
She has been a member of the PRMC Nurse Research and Evidence-based Practice Council (NREBPC) since from 2015 to 2019. During this time, she helped to conduct a research project that focused on the perceptions of a healthy work environment with all the NPs, RNs, LPNs, and CNAs employed at the time of data collection. She also assisted in analyzing the data and presented several presentations on the results.
In addition, she is a member of several professional organizations: The Golden Key International Organization, Sigma Theta Tau, Duquesne Alumni Association and American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN). As a leader in the local chapter of AACN she was the Co-Education chair in 2011 to 2013. The local chapter was awarded the Excellent of Chapter Education Programing in 2013.
