Jay S., Alumnus
BS in Business

The College of Doctoral Studies is the host college for the Journal of Leadership Studies, a quarterly academic journal that provides opportunities for doctoral students, faculty members, and practitioners to publish their research.

The Journal synthesizes the best that theory has to offer with the real-world practical experience of tested leaders. It helps position quality academic scholarship so it can impact organizational decision making.

Mission

The mission of the Journal of Leadership Studies is to publish leadership research and theoretical contributions that bridge the gap between scholarship and practice and exemplify critical inquiry into contemporary organizational issues and paradigms.

The Journal promotes interdisciplinary and interorganizational inquiry, fostering dialogue that transcends industry-specific contexts and explores leadership's role in improving organizational practices and human life. Published material in the Journal of Leadership Studies includes research-based and theoretical articles that explicitly address leadership in various social, cultural, and organizational contexts. In the broadest sense, submissions should employ social science approaches and epistemologies to leadership inquiry.

Audience

The Journal of Leadership Studies is intended for both practitioners and scholars who are engaged in leadership inquiry and endeavors. The audience includes scholars, business leaders, managers, administrators, and other individuals who seek to further their leadership understanding and competence. The Journal of Leadership Studies incorporates contributions from business, non-profit organizations, government entities, education and health care. However, the emphasis on leadership theory and practice spans the boundaries among these settings to promote discussions that center on human activity and interrelations. Accordingly, material in the Journal represents a wide range of methodological approaches and theoretical foundations of leadership.
